I've not baked in quite some time and thought I'd do something that both me and my husband like, so after doing quite a bit of research I came across quite a few white chocolate banana bread recipes. I love banana bread and I love White Chocolate so I thought this would be such a good recipe to try out. I couldn't not use Mary Berry's recipe just because she is the best! :)

you will need:

100 grams of softened butter
175 grams of caster sugar
a pinch of salt
2 medium sized eggs
2 bananas
225 grams of self raising flour
1 tea spoon of baking powder
2 table spoons of whole milk
As many white choc chips or Milkybar buttons as you like (which is what i used)

You will need a loaf tin, I got this ceramic tub from Matalan, they have them in various sizes, this is the medium size and worked perfectly. I pre-heated the oven to 180 degrees and lightly greased my tin to avoid the cake sticking to the bottom.

You want to mash your bananas up into a bowl and then add in your butter, eggs, caster sugar and milk, give it a good ol' mix and then add in your flour and baking powder. I then added in my white chocolate which were giant milky bar buttons i just broke them up into quarters and probably used just less than half the bag.

Pour your mixture into your tin and pop into the oven to bake for around 30 mins, i then reduced the heat to 150 and baked for another 20 mins.

Try it for yourself! Hope you enjoy :)

So this is a bit of a random post, which isn't sponsored, I bought these products with my own money. I've been hearing and seeing sooo many blog posts and YouTube videos featuring Original Source shower gel. I have obviously been living under a rock my entire life as I have never tried this brand and I felt like I was missing out after always hearing about raving reviews.

Here I am now, raving about these shower gels, they are just amazing. I think I have found my favourite shower gels, drugstore that is, I am gutted I haven't tried these sooner as there are so many different scents to try from and they are so cheap too, I got these for £1.00 each in Superdrug - I know right?! How amazing is that.

The scents I picked up are Mint & Tea Tree, Green Banana and Bamboo Milk, Cherry & Almond Milk and Lime & Coconut Milk. I think my faves so far are the Mint & Tea Tree and Cherry & Almond Milk. I've heard a few people say that the Mint & Tea Tree one can sting some people and I can agree with that, it stings my armpits lol a bit tmi but many people have said this, it's sooo refreshing though and makes me feel super clean. The Banana one reminds me of something from my childhood and I can't for the life of me think what - please go in to superdrug and have a sniff of it for me! Cherry & Almond Milk smells just like a Mr Kipling Cherry Bakewell YUM. The Lime & Coconut has a very subtle scent in the tube but once using it the scent is a lot stronger, albeit not as strong as the others.

I just had to share this brand and urge you to try them out, I love it !

Let me know in the comments below if you have used these shower gels and what you think ?

How do I keep a Work/Life balance? With great difficulty is the short answer haha. I have a full time job, I run my blog and I have a dog and husband, that is a lot to juggle and get the balance right. Obviously my full time job comes first, it's what pays my rent and lets me buy nice things and I'm 100% committed to it. It can be quite a stressful job with long hours some times albeit I choose to work longer hours to get stuff done and feel a sense of achievement.

When I get home in the evenings I work on my blog and try to get on to social media as much as i can to promote my blog and interact with other bloggers. Then on top of that I have a dog to walk and give cuddles too along with housework and cooking dinner for my husband albeit he is amazing with helping me out, I just like to do my fair share too as I feel it's very unfair if i'm like sorry you need to do it all so I can blog. He also works full time as a mechanic so has a physically demanding job which would also be unfair of me to sit on my bum all night asking him to do everything.

So now you have a bit of a background back to the original question, how do I keep a work/life balance? In all honesty I probably have 90% work 10% life which to some people is probably a bit like, you need to get a life haha but I enjoy what I do so much, I enjoy my work and I love my blog so is that not more important that you love what you do ? I mean for sure it would be my dream to blog full time or even be in a job that's really creative.

There are times where I have taken a step back and I've taken time out of blogging when my job is really hectic and feel guilty for not spending quality time with my family. As much as I hate to give up blogging temporarily from time to time I know it needs to be done as my family is the most important to me at the end of the day. I've also been working my contracted hours, 8-4 which lets me get home, get a blog written up and tidy the house all before my husband comes home so I can spend time with him which has been really nice. I really hope I can keep up this balance as I now want to try and go to the gym more often... we will see how that goes!

I would love to know in the comments below what your work/life balance is like?

Now that the winter weather is here this is when I start to change my skincare routine up ever so slightly. Can we just talk about how cold it is getting? certainly up in Scotland, I mean no change there but I got in my car this morning and it was 1 degree. This is when chapped lips and dry hands come out which is not attractive to look at nor does it feel nice.

I always keep a chapstick on me at this time of year as I use it constantly so when I want to wear a beaut of a matter lipstick my lips wont look flaky yuk. I also always keep a hand cream on me as my hands get super chapped and can become quite painful in this weather, I hardly ever wear gloves just because i'm always on my phone lol!

Onto my actual skincare routine, an absolute classic, Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish this is one of my absolute faves for taking off my make up and cleansing. I take off my make up with Micellar water and then cleanse twice with Liz Earle to make sure my face is completely make up free. I then go in with the Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic which I use as a toner.

Whilst I wait for that to dry a little and do it's thing I move on to moisturising my body which I have to admit this is probably a once or twice a week job because it's far too cold to be standing around and I'm just lazy in all honesty but I'm loving the Clarins Body Lotion at the minute.

I always switch to a thicker eye cream in the winter to keep them nice and hydrated and less dry looking as my make up tends to go on cakey under my eyes and creases when they aren't well moisturised. Khiels Creamy Eye Treatment is my go to winter eye cream, I just love it. Highly recommend you go in and get a little sample to try before you buy :)

Next up is my Emma Hardie Amazing Face Age Support Cream, now I know I'm not even in my 30s yet but prevention is everything so I use quite a few age defence products and this is one of them, I use this in place of a night cream as it's very moisturising and also gives my skin a really nice glow.

Another reason I don't use a night cream is because I use face oils which are super hydrating and I just feel my skin doesn't need a heavy moisturiser along with the other products I use. Right now I am loving the AD Skin Synergy Oil which I got in a beauty subscription box, I've used this quite a lot now and it's one of these never ending products as you can see the bottle is still full.

It's quite a simple night time skin care routine but I hope it was informative for you. Let me know in the comments below what your favourite skincare products are?

There has been a lot of negativity lately on Twitter and I'm just not about that to be honest, for sure I'm all about people having opinions etc but when it comes to whinging on the daily it just drains me tbh. I am no where near as connected on social media any more purely for this reason, I was thinking why should I take away the joy from me because of others so I'm not going to lie if there are culprits that just post negativity all the time i'm just going to be unfollowing. If this were 2 years ago there would be no way I would say something like that out loud but I like to stay as positive as I possibly can even when I'm having a really crappy day.

I have quite a stressful job so staying positive can be somewhat of a challenge when faced with difficult situations that you just can't stay calm about, I am also a born worrier so I will worry myself sick about the slightest things and self doubt on the daily. One thing I am amazing at is having a game face, it has been mentioned many a times in work as to why I am not an actress haha as my face is as cool as ever when inside i am dying.

So... tip 1 Have A Good Game Face honestly this is something that it either comes naturally to you or it doesn't and I am just lucky enough that it's natural for me or perhaps years of practice, who knows lol. This helps me stay positive sooo much even though i am panicking like mad inside or enraged having that positive game face can take over my whole attitude and I think ya know what it's not that bad or yeahh I can do this. Try it :)

Surround Yourself with Positive People this is quite common sense but like me I would worry about not wanting to upset anyone etc but now I'm just like nahhh and distance myself from negative people or negative situations. This has come with age for me having the confidence to do this.

Take Time For You whether you work long hours or are busy studying all the time, take some time out for yourself and treat yo self. This doesn't have to mean spending money but maybe watch that Netflix series you've been wanting to watch for ages or treat yourself to a relaxing bath, just focus on you and think positive thoughts.

Research Positive Quotes this is one I do pretty often on Pinterest, whenever I start to feel a bit down or stressed I read up some positive quotes or sometimes even watch inspirational speeches on YouTube which I find really lightens my mood and puts me into a positive can do attitude.

In the words of Demi Lovato Let It Go don't dwell on the past because it's exactly that, in the past. This also took me a long time to get to grips with and again think comes with age but it took me ages to think there is no amount of worrying that will fix a situation so let it go and what will be will be. Someone over opinionated, in a negative manner? who cares, that is there issue, don't let them get to you.

I have to say I'm feeling pretty positive after writing this ! Maybe write a positivity post ? haha.

Let me know in the comments below how you stay positive?

I'm just putting it out there, I love MAC lipsticks they are one of my favourite brand of lipsticks, you are never stuck for a shade and they come in every finish you could ever want.

Now my collection isn't much in terms of most avid beauty bloggers but ya know I'm pretty happy with it, I would love one more to complete my little lipstick holder which is from TK Maxx in case you are wondering. How annoying is it when things like this happening? If I had one more it would look perfect but I'm desperately trying not to be that insane person who will spend money on things just to look good for a picture, if this was last year I'd be buying one purely for this with next day delivery!

Anyway, what shades do I have ?

Back Row, L-R

Crossed Wires
Pink Pearl
Milan Mode
Velvet Teddy

Front Row, L-R

Please Me
Creme Cup
Ruby Woo

I've got so many shades on my list that I want like Pure Zen, Honey Love and Pink Plaid. These will defo be on my Christmas Wishlist this year although I might just wait for some sales to crop up before I purchase them, I'll need another lipstick holder for all the new ones! :)

What is your favourite Mac lipstick? Let me know in the comments below.

I've been a massive fan of the Bourjois 123 Perfect foundation which is one of my all time ultimate faves and have repurchased it a few times. I love to change my foundation up, in fact all my make up as frequently as I can afford to, given I already love Bourjois I thought I'd try another of their foundations and this time I picked up the Healthy Mix Foundation in the shade No 51 Light Vanilla and 56 Light Bronze. One for when I'm pale and another when I'm tanned and I can mix them together for when I'm anywhere in between.
They recently had a little revamp in this foundation and I have to say I much prefer this packaging, I didn't try the old version so can't compare the product itself but I don't believe it has changed significantly. They have added in some more skin benefits like vitamins C, E and B5 which claims to give an instant anti fatigue effect. This foundation also claims to keep your complexion radiant for up to 16hrs.

Not forgetting the Healthy Mix Concealer which I bought in the shade Light, this also contains the same skin benefits as the foundation and claims to erase signs of imperfections and signs of fatigue.

What do I think of the foundation? well, in short, I love it, I love this as an every day foundation, it's quite a natural foundation with medium coverage and just feels very hydrating on my skin. I've not tested it out for 16hrs because that's just crazy long but I wear it for around 12 hours and lasts nice all day, I mean it's not perfect by the end of the day but I don't fix my make up throughout the day and i'd say it still looks pretty good when I get home. I have to say my skin can look slightly oily at the end of the day with this foundation and I don't have oily skin, I have normal to dehydrated so I would say if you have oily skin definitely keep a powder with you.

Does the concealer live up to the foundation? I could take it or leave it to be honest, I'm not blown away by it. By no means is it rubbish it's a pretty nice concealer I'm just not wowed by it like I am with the foundation and tend to use my Maybelline eraser concealer or Urban Decay concealer with this foundation which I much prefer. I will still use the Bourjois concealer up as there isn't anything wrong with it, as I said, it's just not anything special in my opinion.

I bought all of these in the 3for2 deal in Boots so highly recommend you take advantage of the offer, your getting a product for free so why not! The foundation cost me £9.99 which is about standard for a drugstore foundation and the concealer costs £8.99 which again is standard pricing.

Have you tried this foundation out? what is your favourite drug store foundation? Let me know in the comments below.

There's nothing I love more than treating myself to a Spa day every now again, it's been quite a while since I've been to a Spa day, purely because they are very expensive and i'm quite fussy about where I go so they tend to be a lot of money for the places I like.

I try to have a little pamper night at home at least once a week where I run myself a nice bath, use some luxurious products and detox my skin. I love to change up all my bath and shower products quite frequently and usually really like them all, I recently noticed that Sanctuary Spa seem to have expanded their range quite a bit and they have some amazing products in there.

I picked up the White Lily & Damsak Rose Body Wash and the Foaming Shower Mousse - I've been using the body wash as bubble bath and omg it smells soooo good, you need to go in to Boots and smell it. The foaming shower mousse has really changed the game for all shower products, it's so much nicer to use, it doesn't drip all over the place it just comes out in a nice foam and lathers perfectly. This stuff is actually like a spa at home, I can't wait to try out more of their range as they have a lot of new items in at the moment.

Highly recommend you have a look at the new Sanctuary Spa range they have seriously upped their game and have something for everyone. I so hope I get one of their gift sets for my Christmas, I will probably stock up in the January sales :)

What is your ideal at home Spa Day like? What products do you recommend? Let me know in the comments below.

It's been quite some time since I've done a monthly favourites and since I have written a blog post. Life has just been super busy, I've had a poorly pup the last few weeks and lots of back and forth to the vet, she is finally on the mend now though. Work has also been extremely busy and I'm struggling to get into a good routine and discipline of blogging and social media, tbh the only thing I want to do is get home, into some cosy PJs and eat chocolate !

Anyway on to this months favourites, which there have been quite a lot but some didn't make the cut for this blog post so who knows if i do a November one they will make an appearance there.

First up is the New Look Fragrance Collection, I got this for £4.00, yes, I know bargain or what?! It was in the sale for £5.00 and I got an extra 20% off sale prices, that works out at £1.00 per perfume. They all smell amazing, it's very rare I buy a pack like this and like all the perfumes but they are on point, I highly recommend you give them a try.

I think the whole blogging world went crazy over the Jo Malone Dupe Candles and Reed Diffusers that Aldi brought out. They are just amazing, I mean they aren't as good as Jo Malone but they are pretty darn close and for the price well I don't mind at all.

You may have seen in my Boots Haul that I posted a couple weeks back that I picked up the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation & Concealer which I am loving, obv as it's in my monthly faves duhhh. I will be doing a more in depth post on this soon so keep an eye out for it if you are interested.

Because the weather is getting so much colder and the darker nights I have been loving cosy socks and slippers with my Pjs, and chocolate of course. There is just something about wearing fluffy socks that makes me feel so relaxed and ready for bed. Although, fun fact, I can't actually wear socks to bed as it makes me feel claustrophobic! Does anyone else feel this way?! Everyone thinks I have completely lost my mind when I say this haha, I can't be the only one, surely?!

Let me know in the comments below what you are loving at the moment?

I've just had my hair cut in to a bob and no I have not shown any pictures as yet but rest assured they will be coming very soon. I dyed my hair after getting it cut so it would be slightly lighter and needed a purple shampoo so hopped over to Boots and well I just couldn't pick up a shampoo could I ?!

To be honest I also thought i hadn't done a Boots haul in a while so why not take advantage of the offers in Boots and get some new products I've not tried before and haul it for my blog, I can always convince myself as to why I need to buy beauty products.

First up, what I actually went in for was the John Frieda Colour Renew Shampoo which is a purple shampoo to help tone any brassy tones in blonde hair. It was 3 for 2 on JF so ya know I just had to take them up on that offer and I picked up the John Frieda Frizz Ease Hair Mask and the Frizz Ease 3 Day Straight which btw I am loving at the moment.

Next up is make up, I've heard quite a lot of fuss about the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation I am a huge fan of the 123 correct foundation I think it's called? I seen raving reviews about this one so thought I'd give it a go along with the Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer and I am loving the results so far, an in depth post will be coming on that in a couple weeks.

I really wanted to replace my Nyx blush in soft spoken which was all used up but instead of buying it again i decided to get the shade 'Hamptons' so will see how i get on with that. To go along with a blush we need a bit of a bronze going on so I picked up the Rimmel Natural Bronzer now that I've got it home it does look a bit orange which I'm kinda sad about but hopefully I can make it work. Sticking with Rimmel is the Stay Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade 'Blush' I had to search for this in the shop, i swatched the tester on my hand and walked around for a bit and fell in love with it, I skipped back excitedly to find they didn't have any left so i had to sneakily go into the storage drawers below the products and there was 1 left in there!

Last but by no means least, probably my favourite product ever is the Benefit Roller Lash I used this years ago when it first came out and loved it but for some reason never repurchased it. I have no idea how I went this long without it and am so glad to have it back in my life, I just picked up the travel size so will go back for the full size soon.

Let me know in the comments below what I should pick up next and try out ?

There is no denying that I looove a dry shampoo and probably verging on being a dry shampoo hoarder. I'm also guilty of being a bit of a snob when it comes to choosing my dry shampoo, is that even a thing?! Just about everyone I know uses dry shampoo, even my husband, so I thought I would share my favourites with you all in case it helps anyone out.

First up is trusty ol' Batiste, I mean, you just can't go wrong with Batiste there are a few scents I'm not overly fussed on but that's just personal preference. I love the 'Bare' scent as it's just fresh and doesn't leave any scent behind really, this is my go to dry shampoo throughout the week on work days.

Next up is Lee Stafford's Coco Loco Dry Shampoo I'm a huge fan of the regular shampoo and conditioner in this range which I've used for a while now so when I seen he had released a dry shampoo in this range I just had to pick it up. This is quite simply holiday in a bottle, if you want a sweet coconut scent that will linger, this is for you. It doesn't leave any white patches and brushes out really well.

I managed to pick up Toni & Guy's Perfect Tease dry shampoo in Poundland for around £2.00 I believe which I thought was so good and have used this for a few weeks now, it has made the cut to my top 5 purely because it has such a luxurious scent and feels luxurious in my hair, it feels like i've just come out the hairdressers when i use this. I can also style my hair a lot easier when I use this.

Batiste is in my Top 5 twice and don't they deserve it, this is the Heavenly Volume one which I use on around day 3 or 4 as my hair can tend to get a bit flat so this just gives it the right amount volume, i wouldn't say it gives a lot which I quite like as I have thick hair so don't need a huge amount. If you have fine flat hair I would maybe look for a different volumising dry shampoo.

Last but by no means least is Soap & Glory's Rushower dry shampoo, the scent! omg it's their classic scent and just smells oh so good. It lasts in my hair too so I get a whiff of it throughout the day, it doesn't make my hair feel as clean as the others but it definitely helps, I mainly use this alongside another dry shampoo and this one just keeps my hair smelling super nice.

What is your favourite dry shampoo? I'd love to know as am keen to try out even more!

I don't know about you but sometimes it's just great to have a cosy weekend doing nothing, catching up on all the housework and watching too much tv, who's with me?!

This weekend has gone way too fast even when I've not done anything, I have been super productive though and so lazy too, Saturday was filled with going on various dog walks, an afternoon nap and then a chinese, movies and snacks at night. Today I was up really early, tidied the house done my hair and make up and out the door at 08.30 for breakfast with my husband, it was deeelish we done the usual Sunday food shop with some candles and reed diffuser's thrown in which is becoming too much of a habit but i love it so much .

I then got home and organised all my cupboards as i can not stand mess and clutter, done a few blog photos and even done the gym this afternoon which i feel so much better about now! I'm having the yummiest Sunday dinner, chicken pie with mashed potato and just look what I have for dessert *inserts love emoji*

I'm going to have an early night watching some tv series in bed with a nice cup of tea and some biscuits for good measure.

Let me know in the comments below what you got up to this weekend?

There is nothing I love more than make up trends in Autumn, the burnt orange eyeshadows to berry red lips hello Autumn. I thought I'd share my favourite Autumn lips for this season and maybe give you some inspo to change up your make up for the A/W this year.

First up is Maybelline's Divine Wine I tend to wear this at weekends or if i'm out at night as opposed to a work day as it's quite bold and out there considering i wear a lot of nudes. This has a really creamy texture which is perfect for the colder months when we get oh so annoying dry lips!

Probably my most worn shade is Mac - Whirl  this is a bit of a classic, I can wear this from day to night and absolutely love it, I team this with the lip liner to make sure it stays put for a lot longer.

Revlon's Berry Couture is for the pink lipstick lovers as it's a subtle pinky berry lip which isn't too bold and can be worn throughout day and night, again this is a very smooth creamy texture which doesn't cling to dry patches on the lips.

Nyx Copenhagen is up there with one of my all time faves, it's a matte berry red which just looks amazing, it takes a bit of time applying it to make sure it doesn't go all over my face lol and can go a bit patchy if a lip liner isn't used. Once this is on the lips though it's very hard to budge which makes it so good for wearing on a night out.

Next up is a gloss which is super pigmented and feels amazing on the lips and Nyx have smashed it again with Toasted Marshmallow I mean even the name just screams Autumn! I absolutely love this, it's so easy to just chuck on but looks like you've spent time putting effort into your make up.

What are your favourite Autumn Lipsticks? Let me know in the comments below

It has been way too long since I've been in the kitchen and baked up some tasty treats, I couldn't really be bothered to do something too fancy so I thought I'd bake myself into it easily haha, i'm so bad at jokes! Anyway, how cute are these Lemon Drizzle Cupcakes?

It's probably one of the easiest cupcakes to make and super tasty too... just keep reading to find out for yourself:

You will need

250g unsalted butter, softened
400g caster sugar
3 eggs
250g self-raising flour
3 lemons - zest & juice

To Make

1. Preheat your oven to 160c / 140c fan / gas mark 3. Line a muffin tin with 12 muffin cases (i used cupcake cases and had too much mixture left)

2.  Put your softened butter into a mixer and mix on high speed for a good 4 mins until light and fluffy, now add in half of your sugar and mix again until combined

3. Mix in your flour, eggs, zest of 2 lemons and 1 lemon juice, don't over mix just until all combined.

4. spoon into your muffin cases evenly and bake for 20 mins, whilst waiting mix your remaining caster sugar with the juice of your other 2 lemons

5. Once out the oven pierce some holes in them with a skewer or fork and drizzle over your sugar / lemon mixture and leave to cool

6. This is optional but i mixed some icing sugar with water to a thick paste and put this into a piping bag and piped over the top of my cupcakes and decorated it with a little jelly lemon sweet.

What do you think of these lemon drizzle cupcakes? will you be making them?

Am I seeing things? No you are not, there is a fashion post on 'Gill McLaughlin' Yes, I know I can hardly believe it myself. If you are new around here, Hey, Welcome! I write about Beauty and Lifestyle with a dash of Baking, not fashion! Why? well because in all honesty I would not do outfit posts, I have zero body confidence.

Today I am making an exception because I mean just look at that beautiful tan suede biker jacket which screams AUTUMN

I seen this in New Look about a month ago and have legit thought about it ever since that I knew I just had to bite the bullet and pick it up, so I did. I could not be happier, I have been wearing this with cute tan ankle boots and autumnal blouses teamed with my tan MK bag. I am so ready for you Autumn, come at me!!

For £39.99 I think it's quite the bargain in comparison to River Island and Topshop where they are more than double the price. They also come in sooo many other shades, I really want the Grey, Wine, Khaki and Blush one too, maybe a bit excessive but I know I will wear this all the time I think I need a back up or two.

What do you think of this jacket? Yay or Nay? Should I do more fashion posts? Let me know in the comments below x

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the all round prettiness of these brushes?! I mean... if these aren't Instagram worthy I don't know what is. Speaking of Instagram, have you checked mine out? no shame! It's getting harder and harder to maintain and gain new followers thanks to the Instagram Algorithm, so let's all follow, like and interact with each other :)

Anyway, on to these beauts which I found on Amazon, I was searching for a birthday candle for my friend and these popped up as an advert which clearly worked as I bought them straight away, at £13.00 I couldn't resist. The 10 piece synthetic brushes come with an adorable make up brush case in the shape of a diamond which is super reflective.

Small round shading brush
Large round shading brush
Fan brush
Angled blush brush
Angled flat bush
Round powder brush
Flat contour brush
Small shadow brush
Large shadow brush
Flat shadow brush

I've used the flat angled brush for applying foundation and I wasn't overly keen on it, my foundation was harder to blend and took a lot longer to do so as opposed to a natural hair brush. However, I've used the contour and blush brushes with powder products and really enjoyed using them, they blended out beautifully and were so easy to use. I've only used the eye brushes for basic bronzed eye looks and again these were really nice too. I will need to put them to the test for smokey glittery eye looks and see how they perform.

Overall they are pretty good for the price and make really nice props for Instagram pictures, I probably wouldn't use them on a daily basis but as a back up they do the job.

Let me know in the comments below what your favourite make up brushes are?

Now I know it's not Autumn just yet, oh how I wish it was, I've started re arranging my make up and putting all my autumnal palettes and berry lips to the front of my stash as I will be reaching for these the most. I mentioned in my September To Do List that I was going to re arrange it all and here we are, the autumn make up posts have begun. Can I have a Wahooo?!

The Nyx Ultimate Eye Palette in Warm-Neutral has got to be one of my favourites for Autumn, I mean just look at those burnt oranges, chocolate browns and golden shimmers. Heaven. There are 9 Mattes and 7 shimmers all super pigmented and very easy to blend. This is their 'Pro-Range' which I can't deny as it does perform very well and I would class this is a high end palette, at £16.00 I'd say it is well worth it.

I love that it is a small compact palette which is easy to travel with or even popping in to your handbag for going from a day to night look. One thing this palette doesn't have is a black shade which can be a huge no no for a lot of people but in all honesty I don't mind as I very rarely use blacks and they have a really nice deep brown at the bottom which I'd use instead.

I can see this palette being used on the daily for the next few months and can't wait to play about with it more creating some fun looks. I've already used the burnt orange shades so much already along with wearing autumnal attire - I'm ready for ya Autumn!!

I've swatched a few of my favourite shades above so you can see the pigmentation we are dealing with whaaat. They apply with just as much pigment and blend out beautifully, I sprayed my brush with some setting spray before applying the shimmer as I do with all my palettes to make that shimmer really pop and stay put for longer.

Let me know what your favourite palettes are for autumn in the comments below

Ok, I am trying to contain my excitement but aaaaaaahhhhhh it's September, which means Autumn is on it's way!!! I love Autumn/Winter, I feel I am more motivated more upbeat and just enjoy life so much more in the A/W. I've seen 'To Do Lists' quite a lot recently and I enjoy reading them so much that I thought I would do one myself as I have quite a few things I want to do this month, albeit it's pretty boring adult life boo.

Eat Healthy & Get Fit

every month, every week and every day I say I am going to try to lose weight and it never happens so I'm going to plan on eating healthier and getting fitter. I'm going to take the pressure off and enjoy it a bit more as opposed to being obsessed with a number on the scales. I'm taking part in the Kiltwalk later this month so that will get me into shape a little more and hopefully motivate me to keep it up!

Plan Ahead

My whole life needs planned out basically. I just need to get better at the basics like planning my lunches because I spend about £10 a day in work, no joke. This.Has.To.Stop. Rushing about ironing work clothes in the morning, I need to do this at nights or on a Sunday and prep for the week. I also need to plan more blog posts in advance to take the pressure off and schedule tweets etc.

Switch Up My MakeUp

This is pretty exciting, out goes all some of the pastel pinks and in comes the burnt oranges, deep browns, berry reds for A/W. I looove make up at this time of year, I love wearing dark lips and smokey eyes with winged liner. I have a great eye palette which is going to be perfect for this year - post coming on it soon. Sneak Peak.

I mean, if there is any time you are going to bake it's this time of year isn't it?! Bake Off has started which gives me all sorts of ideas and inspo to try something new. The weather also starts to get that little bit colder and darker which means more cups of tea and you can't have one without cake, that would just be darn rude.

Prepare Fresh New Content

As most of you will know I took 3 months out of blogging, you can read all about it here but I am back and I need to get preparing and planning some fresh new content. I want to improve on my writing style, photography styles and just freshen everything up a little more. Blogging is a huge passion of mine and I just need to get that passion and love back for it. I hope you enjoy my new posts to come :)

Save Save Save and Save

As I have said, I spend way too much at work and it's just not worth it. I am also wanting to buy a house soon as I'm still renting so I need to get better at saving. I also need to stop spending on new make up, I always convince myself that I need to have it in my collection but I really need a house more. In all honesty I could save a hella lot I just don't know how to break out of habits. Any hints and tips would be amazing !

I've got a lot to do this month! Let me know what your To Do list is for September in the comments below or leave me links to your posts so I can have a nosey :)

Something I have always wanted to own in life is a Jo Malone Perfume, because why not?! They are just perfection, the packaging, the scents, just everything. What's stopping me purchasing one of these beauts? The price. At £88.00 for 100ml I just can't bring myself to see that come out my bank account.

Whilst perusing all the prettiness in Primark I about collapsed when something Jo Malone esk caught my eye, elbows were about coming out to get to the counter to check my eyes weren't deceiving me, this couldn't be a Jo Malone dupe, in Primark? After countless sprays of different scents and scrutinising the life out of them, I found a Jo Malone dupe. I still can't believe it as I type this, best of all for a 100ml bottle it cost me £8.00 that's an £80.00 difference !!!

Ok so it's not an exact dupe, the Lime is missing but that would be full on copyright if they done that, I tell you what the scents smell the same. To those with super sensitive noses I am sure you will smell some difference, there is an £80 difference after all but for the average person you will not notice a difference. The longevity is pretty decent, I mean it's not Jo Malone standard but it lasted me a pretty good amount of time before I had to have another spritz.

I also bought the hand soap in this scent which was £4.00, a little pricey for some hand soap but considering it's £30.00 from Jo Malone it's a pretty big saving for the same scent. Primark are also stocking 10ml perfumes and diffusers along with hand creams in the classic scents from Jo Malone, I highly recommend you go rush to Primark and pick some of them up.

Have you tried these yet? What are your thoughts on them?

Wow, this feels strange, stranger than I thought.

I've been out of the blogging world for about 3 months now and what a long but oh so quick 3 months it has been. What have I been doing ?! In all honesty, working. I found it extremely difficult to balance work and my blog as well as having a social life and it all got on top of me I just threw in the towel. I really wasn't sure I would ever blog again.

I didn't use Twitter or Instagram throughout either as it would make me super frustrated and at times jealous of all the other bloggers having this wonderful work life balance being able to do it all, and at one point I did do it all but I burnt myself out to the point i had zero passion for it. Now I know not everyone has the 'real' work life balance and they struggle just as much as I did but seeing everything looking perfect just made me feel how much of a failure I had become at my blog.

Truthfully, I miss it. I miss the community, I miss interacting with other bloggers but most importantly I miss being creative and sharing my latest beauty finds or my latest baking recipes.

I'm not going to put any pressure on myself at the moment but just enjoy it again and gradually work a new routine back in to my life.

I would love to know in the comments below if you have any struggles and how you overcome them?

If you haven't already guessed by the picture it is my Mum's 60th Birthday today, Happy Birthday Mum. We celebrated this weekend by going to Dobbies Garden Centre on the Friday and I spent way too much but got some cute plants for outside my house and some indoor accessories including candles, obv. We also ate way too much cake at Dobbies but I mean it's essential when it's someones birthday right?!

I made my mums Birthday cake for a little extra special effort, i'm actually pretty pleased how it came out given it was a bit of a rush making it. I'm definitely going to practice making bigger cakes a lot more now I know i can do it and it wasn't terrible! Look out for some more recipe posts...

On Saturday all the family came around my mums house and we had loads of chinese food and a good natter, it was such a fun filled weekend, quite literally as I also got lip fillers on Saturday! I've been thinking about it for over a year but didn't want to rush into it and wanted to find the right place too and I finally did it!! let me know if you would want a full review on the process before and after pics etc and I will definitely do that.

Let me know in the comments below what you got up to this weekend, I would love to know.

The day I walk in to Boots and buy just what I am after is the day I think I will really worry about myself haha! I never come out with just what I need, there are always products that seem to jump into my basket and come home with me. I love trying out new products and new brands, I mean I kinda need to for my blog, right?! Girls, we all know the struggles..

So what did I pick up on my trip to Boots?

First up is the Oh K Sheet Mask this was right at the front door and I fell for it, I noticed it was new in and so I just had to try it out.

I knew I wanted to try the L'Oreal Nude Cushion Foundation so I picked that up and as it was 3 for 2 I picked up the L'Oreal Blush in shade 90 - Rose Eclat and a L'Oreal Lip Liner in the shade Perfect Red.

I then noticed the new Max Factor Bronzer so obviously as it was new I had to try it out, I picked this up in the shade 05- Light Gold. Sticking with face products i decided to try out a Sleek Blush as I've never tried blushes from this brand, I picked up shade Antique.

From Nyx I picked up the Nyx Butter Gloss in the shade Cherry Cheesecake which is such a nice summer shade, can't wait to wear it! I then picked up a new Nyx Lip Liner in the shade Pink Cantaloupe you can't have too many lip liners! I also picked up a Nyx Eyebrow Gel in the shade Blonde, I've seen many Youtubers use this so wanted to give it a go.

The last thing from Boots is a Rimmel Eye Liner in the shade 02 - Denim Blue i think this will look really nice teamed with the coral lip butter.

I was returning a couple of things to New Look and decided to look at their make up, they had a sale on some things so I picked up a Matte Lipstick in the shade Rose Quartz and a Eyeliner Pen in black.

Keep an eye out for some first impressions coming up on some of these products.

Let me know in the comments below if you would like to read about any of these products more in depth and my review?

Where did April go?! It's hard to believe that it's now May and we are almost half way through the year, like what?!

I've been completely absent from my blog and all social media for over a week now, not going to lie I have been absolutely loving it! I've been thinking about getting back on twitter etc during last week but have stopped myself doing it as I've been trying to get into a routine of exercise and losing weight which I am glad to say is working well. I've lost half a stone in just over a week purely by eating better and exercising everyday.

I know if I'm on social media or blogging I spend sooo much time on it that I just wont bother doing the gym because it then gets too late, excuse after excuse. The only way I was going to put my all into it was by coming off social media all together and focus all my attention on myself. I need to work on a tight schedule where I have time to blog and also exercise but also have a life at the same time, help me!!!

Coming up in a few weeks will be my mums 60th birthday which I'm really excited about albeit she probably wont be haha! We will likely just have a small family get together, nothing huge as she doesn't want a party or anything. I still need to figure out what I'm going to get her.

Would love it if you left a little comment with any hints and tips you may have for losing weight

I went in to Boots to get a lip liner and as usual come out with stuff I don't need or maybe i do need, definitely need. I'm not going to lie I looked at all the mascara's in this range then noticed they are giving one of these cute eye masks for free with them it totally sold me. Marketing works and it works extremely well with me.

The new Miss Baby Roll Mascara by L'oreal comes in 5 different options, Black, Black Waterproof, Lilac, Indigo and Teal. I went for black because I didn't feel brave enough for a coloured mascara but I'm now seriously thinking of getting the Indigo shade for my bottom lashes if I'm going to do a bit more of an 'out there' look.

I don't own a mascara like this with this kind of wand, I always think these fancy wands are a bit of a fad and don't pay attention to them, it's not what makes me buy a mascara. This mascara claims to:

" Our mega curl roller brush curls lashes from the root, for an instant lash lift! The quick mega volume formula volumises lashes and holds them in a curl all day"

I can definitely say these claims are true, I definitely noticed a lot more lift in my lashes and they were more curled. I don't have straight lashes though they are naturally a little bit more curled so can't say if this will work for sure on straight lashes. I really love this and can see myself repurchasing it.

Let me know in the comments below what your favourite mascara is?
