DIY Charcoal Face Mask

Facemasks are becoming one of the biggest beauty purchases now a days and everyone seems to have a face mask of some kind but have you ever made your own?

You will more than likely of seen the DIY Charcoal face masks going about on YouTube, I have lost count of how many I've watched. I decided I would give it a go for myself so got myself down to Holland & Barratt to buy some charcoal, I bought them in tablet form and just opened them up into a bowl and some PVA glue from my local supermarket.

I mixed around 8-10 capsules with about 2 tablespoons of pva glue into a bowl until it was all incorporated, I made this much as I was also testing it on my husband who has oily skin, larger pores and more blackheads. I tend not to have that many blackheads and have dry skin so I wanted to properly test it on two different skin types.

Result... after leaving them on for about 40 mins they were dry and ready to be peeled off, I peeled my husbands off and there were definitely a few blackheads on the mask it just didn't take out as many as I thought it would but his skin was noticeably better. My husband didn't flinch too much when I was peeling it off but when it came to take mine off.... omg it was effing agony! I have high pain threshold but this was making my eyes go all watery it pulled off every hair on my face and I don't have a lot of hair at all. There were only a few blackheads on it but not much at all, you could see all the fine hairs it had ripped off though!

If you have larger pores and more blackheads I would recommend this as it did work well on my husbands skin but if you don't have that many blackheads I wouldn't bother as it's not worth the pain at all lol!
