Beauty | Miracle Hair Oil

So recently I tried to dye my hair a little bit lighter myself and let's just say it was a bit of a disaster... it ended up Ginger! Not that there is anything wrong with that but this was a horrible Ginger, orange roots and brassy it was just a disaster.

I had to sheepishly go into a hairdresser and ask them to fix it so it's now a dirty blonde kind of shade but still has some warm brassy tones to it which I will be getting fixed. Due to the amount I dyed my hair the condition of it was a complete mess, I was given a treatment to use before drying it from the hairdresser which is amazing - literally saved my hair (post to come).

However, I fancied something that I could use when it was dry also and just so happened to spot this in Boots!

About

The 3 Miracle Oil is a lightweight oil which has Australian Macadamia Nut Oil, Safflower seed oil and Coconut oil packed in. You can pick this up in Boots at £9.99 for 100ml.

Claims

Aussie 3 Miracle Oil claims to help protect hair from everyday wear and tear and leaves your hair looking silky, smooth and fabulously shiny.

My ThoughtsUpon using this I instantly jumped back 8 years to when I first tried Aussie shampoo, it has the same classic smell as the Mega range and I swear it smells just like those necklace sweets we all ate as a child. It's a very smooth lightweight oil which doesn't leave your hands feeling super sticky (you will still need to wash them obv) I use around 2 pumps of this and run it through the mid length to ends of my hair when it's dry, you can also use it on wet hair. I find this gives me a really nice shine to my dry hair and has definitely helped my split ends when using heat tools. It doesn't leave my hair feeling greasy and I can still use it on 2 day or 3 day old hair and it's fine. I don't use a lot of this at all but I would imagine like any oil if you use to much it will make your hair greasy.
Overall I am very pleased with this and will continue to use it, I would say I'd repurchase it but it will take me forever to get through so I will most likely of jumped on the bandwagon to something else haha.

Baking | Chocolate Fridge Cake

Baking is a huge passion of mine and I do lots of it but sometimes it's nice to do something a little bit different and make something which I don't need to bake..... some chocolate fridge cake perhaps?

I mean doesn't this just look amazing (if I don't say so myself) I took inspo from Mimi's bakery to make this, I was going to buy one and thought why don't I make my own and share it with all my workmates?! You know I'm going to be popular tomorrow :)

Would you like to make this too? then just keep reading...

What You Need:

800g digestive biscuits
400g unsalted butter
200ml Golden Syrup
100g Cocoa powder
1 share bag of Maltesers
130g mini marshmallows
sprinkles for decoration

How To:

1) break your digestives up into fairly big chunks

2) melt your butter, golden syrup and cocoa powder together then take off the heat

3) Stir in your digestives, maltesers and marshmallows

4) pour into a tin with greaseproof paper or grease with butter and place into the fridge

5) Ideally, leave this to set overnight or for around 4-5 hours and it will be perfect to cut up into your desired size.

*This will make 8 large portions as pictured or 16 smaller squares *

Beauty | Mini Nyx Lip Collection

I love finding new lip products, the feeling of walking around the beauty aisles of Boots fills me with joy. The latest beauty counter to come to Boots is NYX, I am a huge fan of this brand they are super affordable and most importantly high quality which brings me on to their lip products.

I am slowly collecting the Nyx butter glosses and soft matte creams at £5.50 each you really can't complain.

Butter Gloss

So as glosses go they aren't anywhere near as long wearing as a lipstick or a matte lipstick, I would say they last just as good as any other lip glosses I have from MAC, Stila and any other higher end brands. I was really surprised at the pigmentation from them, I have slightly lighter shades and the pigmentation is so good I can't wait to see what a darker shade will be like.

Soft Matte Cream

So these are just like they say on the tin or the plastic tube they are a matte cream so they aren't drying like a matte liquid lipstick can be they are a lot softer and creamier which also means they wont last as long as a liquid lipstick but they are so much more comfortable to wear. I couldn't see myself stop wearing matte liquid lipsticks but these have converted me, they are weightless on my lips have amazing pigmentation and lasted me through 1 meal and drinking water throughout the day, once I got to my second meal of the day it did start to wear off. They don't go patchy when you need to top them up but also come off really well with make up remover.

Lifestyle | Low Cost Candles

Now we all know I love a candle, I mean who doesn't love a good candle?! I always have a wee candle burning away in at least one room of the house just about every day so I get through a fair amount of candles.

I was having a little look around a new bargain store which has opened up nearby to me to see if there were any cute finds I could pick up and came across the 'Wickford & Co' candle range for just 89p each for these lil beauts yes, just 89p! I know!!

I could have gone crazy buying them all but I have to say I am very picky with any home décor which included candles - they must match my house, i.e. if they are not in the white or pink shades I aint getting it lol. I could be limiting myself massively in the gorgeous candles out there but oh well.

On to the actual candles, the price point is just amazing and the actual candles themselves have amazing strong scents with a good throw which is the most important, there is nothing worse buying a gorgeous scented candle but can't smell it when burning in the house. They state these mini candles have 16hrs of burning which I probably wouldn't agree with, I got around 10 hrs out of them i'd say but due to the price point I don't think there is anything to complain about on that at all.

Beauty | July Birchbox

First of all, can we just take a look at the beautiful design of this box? The pink and lilac watercolour with rose gold detailing is just pure perfection - I love it!

I was intrigued to see that it was a collab with Millie Mackintosh as I hadn't seen anything about July's Birchbox, although I always try to stay away from reading anything until I have received mine so not to ruin the surprise.

Inside the box is just as exciting as the packaging itself which includes:

John Frieda: Frizz Ease Primer
Caudalie Anti - Wrinkle Protect Fluid
LOC Ultra Gloss Lip Pencil
Nails Inc Polish
Caudalie Micellar Water

I can't wait to try all the products out and share my thoughts and recommendations to you.

Beauty | NYX HD Foundation

 Hello Lovelies,

Hope you are all having a good week, we are half way through now, roll on Friday! Today I'm sharing my thoughts on the NYX HD Foundation so keep reading to find out more :)

ProductThis is the NYX HD Foundation in the shade Nude and costs £12.50 for 33.3ml which comes in a range of 8 shades using light-diffusing technology

ClaimsIt claims to enhance the appearance of silky smooth flawless skin by using light-diffusing technology and achieve a picture perfect look any time you are in the spotlight

Review I felt the consistency was fairly medium coverage when squeezing it out the tube, upon applying it felt very wet like most foundations do, yes Gill! but it felt more watery on the skin as opposed to when I first squeezed it from the tube. It didn't give me too much coverage, I applied 2 coats of it and it was still a light-medium coverage. I have applied this foundation with a flat top brush, a paddle foundation brush and a beauty blender and I'd say the coverage was fairly similar with all.

In terms of longevity I felt it went a little patchy a lot sooner than my other foundations usually would. I always set my foundation with a setting powder and setting spray and it started rubbing off around my nose and mouth area around 4-5hrs of wearing.

The foundation feels slightly oily once applied to the skin before using a setting powder so I would say a setting powder is required for this and if you have oily skin i'm not sure how this product will work for you. I have dehydrated skin and I was still slightly oily with it.

Overall I think this would be a great foundation for beginners to use as it's really easy to blend out due to it being a light coverage. If you are also looking for a more natural look this would be one to check out, I personally love more full coverage foundations so I probably wont reach for this too much unfortunately.

Baking | Vanilla Sprinkle Cake

Hello Lovelies,

It's been a while since I've done any baking, I've just got out the way of it but got my baking mojo back at the weekend and made this cake. I'm not overly pleased with it but thought I would share it with you all anyway as you may be able to do better than me !

You Will Need:

6 Large Eggs
350g Self-Raising Flour
350g Caster Sugar
350g Softened Butter (unsalted)
3 tsp Baking Powder
2tsps Vanilla Extract

Icing:
300g butter
1200g Icing Sugar
Sprinkles

How to make:1) Set your oven to 180C, Gas 4 and grease your cake tins

2) Beat together eggs, flour, caster sugar, butter and baking powder in a large bowl until smooth

3) Distribute evenly between 4 cake tins (or 2 at a time) and bake for around 15-20mins

4) Leave to cool completely before icing

5) to make the icing, cream together the butter and icing sugar bit by bit as there is a lot of it!

6) I split some of the icing out for spreading throughout the middle and added sprinkles. Once all layers are put together, you can ice around the whole cake by using a spatula - a cake smoother is probably a lot easier which I will get for next time. Then pipe some design to the top and bottom and add sprinkles.

Let me know what you think - I'm going to keep practicing to improve for next time.
