Saying Goodbye to 2016

I think we can all agree that 2016 hasn't been the best year for a lot of us and we will be glad to see it go and get into 2017.
I had some things go on in work this year and also been trying to get my underactive thyroid fully diagnosed going through test after test for over a year now and I am finally starting to get somewhere with it so hopefully next year it will all be resolved.
In terms of my blog it hasn't been a good year for me really, I haven't put the same effort in this year than I did last year purely because I've had so much stuff going on in my personal life and being unwell with my thyroid has made me extremely tired and unmotivated the last thing i wanted to do was come home and sit on my laptop after a full day work.
Now that things are getting better I will be making myself a planner to plan out my posts a lot more and become way more organised and take some of the stress away by forward planning. I also got this cute Kate Spade diary from my brother and sister-in-law in the picture which will also help me keep my life on track.

I didn't really make goals for this year but you can see from my New Year post here that i wanted to stop stressing and worrying as much this year which was a complete FAIL lol and to lose some weight which was also a fail haha. Oh well!!

I will be putting up my goals on NY day for 2017 so have a look out for that.
How was your year in 2016? Let me know in the comments below.

What I Got For Christmas | Beauty Edition

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas, I spent it with family having a break from all social media and giving myself time to relax for the new year.
I got quite a few make up bits this year thanks to my lovely husband who took me out shopping for what I wanted as he wouldn't have a clue what to buy me. I am SO excited at the stuff he got for me and have got a few of my first ever beauty brands!

As like all of these posts, a quick disclaimer that this isn't to brag about anything, I got quite a few make up pieces which I thought some of you may like to have a read about and be nosey, let's be honest us beauty bloggers are a bit nosey when it comes to make up lol.
So what did I get I get you ask?!

Make Up Revolution Highlight, Contour and Blush palette

MAC x15 Warm Palette

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

Urban Decay Naked Concealer

Kiehl's Eye Cream

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a festive Lush haul now would it?! There is nothing better on a cold winter night than running yourself a hot bath and popping in some amazingly scented Christmas bath bomb... ahhh!

There were quite a few new releases this year which I was super excited about, I did only get a few though as Lush was super busy as usual at this time of year so I picked up most of the classics which come back year after year as I know I love them.

5- Luxury Lush Pud £4.25 This is a very relaxing bath bomb with lavender and super colourful

6- Father Christmas £3.75  this also has the same snow fairy scent just a little more muted and he doesn't make your bath Red....

7- Golden Wonder £4.25 - One of my faves and an absolute classic

8- Never Mind the Ballistics £4.25 - this is a new one, smells very fruity with a wax type layer to it to moisturise your skin in the bath

9- So White £3.75 another classic and they have changed it slightly this year by adding a little leave to make it look like an apple to match it's scent
10- Mistletoe £4.25 I believe this is also a new addition, smells very floral and looks amazing

11- Rose Jam Shower Gel £4.95 Smells floral which is pretty obvious by the name lol but I just love this shower gel!

Oh Christmas Tree Oh Christmas Tree

Putting up my Christmas tree has to be one of the most exciting things ever, it gets me into the Christmas spirit and I just love all the sparkle and glitter !

I put my tree up on the 1st of December, it would be rude not to wouldn't it?! I decided to go for a white and gold theme this year although could probably do with a little more gold tinsel and baubles on the tree, yay to more shopping!

I got my white tree from The Range last year for around £50, there weren't too many around last year but this year I have seen quite a few of them to choose from ranging in prices.

I got all the white baubles from The Range, the Gold baubles are from Tesco and the cute little pink & white candy canes from B&M Bargains last year, don't worry they aren't for eating I use them for decoration only.

Tesco had some amazing baubles in this year in a variety of colours, they had a huge amount of white, silver and gold though so get yourselves down to Tesco if your looking for some cute ones like I have in the pictures.
I also got the white mini bauble lights from Tesco, I actually find it really hard to find lights for a whole tree with white or clear wiring, unless I am just looking in all the wrong places?! M&S had some in stock but they were way too much money, it would have cost me around £40 for the box I would of needed whereas these ones from Tesco cost around £8, a fraction of the price.
I really love my tree this year and also have my wrapping paper to match the white and gold theme, I'm turning into someone with no life haha!
Let me know what theme you have gone for this year in the comments below.

Mini Soap & Glory Haul

Soap & Glory are becoming one of my favourite make up brands, their skincare is just to die for and I am starting to feel the same about their make up. Their eyebrow products have always been a favourite of mine so I thought I would delve a little deeper and try out some more products they have to offer, because why on earth not?!

Another thing I love about Soap & Glory are the offers they usually have in boots, they frequently have 3 for 2 offers on which is always a bonus to get something for free and have you seen their Christmas gifts? oh please Santa let me have them!

You can have a little browse over here or in store to have a look at what they have to offer but let's jump in to what goodies I decided to go for.
1 - Thick & Fast Mascara

I don't think I have ever tried out a S&G mascara before but these are pretty good and reminds me of some of the YSL mascara's not only the packaging but the cute brush wand this mascara has, it's super easy to coat your lashes and also delicate enough for the bottom lashes

2 - Extreme Plump

Something I never use is plumping glosses, I think the last time I tried them was when I was 10! To be honest I didn't think they were even a thing anymore but not gona lie it was the packaging that caught my eye and I decided why not, let's get my lips plumped. It gives a nice tingly feeling to your lips and make them feel plumped but not sure they look it.
3 - Glow All Out Highlight

Who doesn't love a good highlight? I'm starting to get a wee collection of highlighters now but very little cream ones so thought this would fit in well to my collection and something for me to try out when going for the dewy look

4 - Sexy Mother Blusher

Again, I have very limited cream products so decided to pick up a cream blush, I went for this gorgeous coral shade, I think this will look amazing in the spring / summer time for a barely there look.

That was my mini Soap & Glory haul, let me know in the comments below what your favourite products are from this brand?

Christmas Gift Guide for Dogs

As you are all probably very aware, I am obsessed with my little pooch Daisy and at Christmas time I tend to get a little carried away as she is my little child lol. She gets spoilt just like an actual human child would be at Christmas time.
I know I am not the only one out there who obsesses over their pooches and love to spoil them so I thought I would do a Dog's Christmas Gift Guide cos why not?! They deserve a good ol' treat just as much as we do.
I could have gone mad with this one but decided to tame it down a little bit and wittle it down to just 5 goody ideas all linked below:
I loved doing this post and thought it was something a little bit different, let me know if you buy your pets Christmas pressies?

The Perfect Party Eye Palette

The Christmas Party season is now on it's way where we all get dressed up and made up for the occasion, I love a good glitzy eye palette for the party season to go with my glitter dress or black jumpsuit. Sometimes we spend all our money on some nice new outfits and shoes to go out in and leave little money left for make up. Drugstore eye palettes are now widely available and some of them are just as good as the high end brands.

I picked up Maybelline The Rock Nudes palette from boots for £9.99 but technically got it free as they had a 3 for 2 offer on, this is definitely one of the perfect party eye palettes as it consists of 6 matte shades and 6 glitter shades. There are some neutral colours in there as transition shades and defining the crease and then some darker shades for that smokey eye look and not to mention the beautiful glitter shades which are super pigmented.

The lighter shades definitely need applied a few times to show up but the darker shades and glitter are super pigmented, they are really easy to blend out and apply but I would definitely use an eye primer to ensure they stay put all night long as they do tend to fade within a few hours if no primer is used which is to be expected from drugstore palettes.

The top row of the palette consists of a matte pale creamy white shade, a blue silver shimmer, a lilac shimmer, deep matte brown, midnight blue shimmer, black shimmer

The bottom row has a matte cream base, a matte pink skintone shade, deep purple with slight shimmer, gold shimmer, deep matte purple, matte black

This palette is definitely cost effective and very versatile with the amount of looks you could do with it, my favourite shade has to be the gold shimmer.

Let me know in the comments below what your favourite shade is?

Festive Nutella Cupcake Recipe

Back again with some tasty cupcakes and this time I have a little festive twist to it with some Christmas sprinkles but best of all the icing is Nutella! These were an absolute joy to make but made my stomach grumble throughout because all I could smell was chocolate nutella galore!

Keep on reading to find out how to make these beauts:

You Will Need:

120g Plain Four (Sifted)
140 g Caster Sugar
1 1/s tsp Baking Powder
30g Cocoa Powder
40g Unsalted Butter at room temp.
120ml Whole milk
1 Large Egg
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Butter Icing:

150g Unsalted Butter
300g Icing Sugart
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
200g Nutella
2-3 Tbs of Cream or Milk

How To Make:

1) Preheat oven to around 150c (I use a fan oven) and place cupcake cases into a muffin tray

2) Cream your butter in a mixer for 5 mins and then add in your sugar and mix until incorporated

3) Place your sifted flour, baking powder and Cocoa powder in until you get a sandy consistency, now gradually pour in half of the milk and mix until incorporated.

4) Add in your egg, vanilla extract and other half of milk and mix well

5) Spoon the mixture evenly into your cupcake cases and bake for around 10-12 mins

6) To make the butter icing cream your butter until pale and fluffy (usually takes 5-10 mins in a mixer) then add in your icing sugar and mix well until incorporated

7) now add in your nutella with 1 tbs of milk / cream and mix well. Use the rest of the milk or cream as needed, if icing is too hard add more milk.

8) Ensure cupcakes are completely cool before piping icing onto them. once icing has been piped on decorate with sprinkles as desired.

These taste amazing and are surprisingly quite light, let me know in the comments below what your favourite kind of cupcake is?

The Best Setting Powder - Ben Nye

This could be one of the best setting powders I have used to date, I done a lot of research for a setting powder specifically for photography which wouldn't cause flashback or make you look white. Ben Nye Banana powder was up there with one of the best which make up artists use and I can say this is amazing.

With the powder being yellow in colour this helps to reduce any redness and pink undertones as well as blue circles under the eyes. It's a very light powder with a mattifying effect, although the powder is very fine so need to be carefully when opening as it does tend to go all over the place.

Ben Nye isn't as popular in the UK so it's not on a lot of the big beauty sites, I got mine from Amazon as I have a Prime account so may aswell get it from there. You can also get it from Cocktail Cosmetics and love-makeup for around £18 for 42g which is very reasonable and it will last you forever as you only need a little to go a long way.

I can confirm you get absolutely no flashback from this product and it ensures your make up lasts all day. If you have dry skin I would be a bit wary of using this or only in very small quantities as it can have a bit of a drying effect on the skin. My skin is normal / combination and worked well for me, I would imagine it would also work well for those with oily skin.

DIY Charcoal Face Mask

Facemasks are becoming one of the biggest beauty purchases now a days and everyone seems to have a face mask of some kind but have you ever made your own?
You will more than likely of seen the DIY Charcoal face masks going about on YouTube, I have lost count of how many I've watched. I decided I would give it a go for myself so got myself down to Holland & Barratt to buy some charcoal, I bought them in tablet form and just opened them up into a bowl and some PVA glue from my local supermarket.
I mixed around 8-10 capsules with about 2 tablespoons of pva glue into a bowl until it was all incorporated, I made this much as I was also testing it on my husband who has oily skin, larger pores and more blackheads. I tend not to have that many blackheads and have dry skin so I wanted to properly test it on two different skin types.
Result... after leaving them on for about 40 mins they were dry and ready to be peeled off, I peeled my husbands off and there were definitely a few blackheads on the mask it just didn't take out as many as I thought it would but his skin was noticeably better. My husband didn't flinch too much when I was peeling it off but when it came to take mine off.... omg it was effing agony! I have high pain threshold but this was making my eyes go all watery it pulled off every hair on my face and I don't have a lot of hair at all. There were only a few blackheads on it but not much at all, you could see all the fine hairs it had ripped off though!
If you have larger pores and more blackheads I would recommend this as it did work well on my husbands skin but if you don't have that many blackheads I wouldn't bother as it's not worth the pain at all lol!

Life Update & New Workspace

This feels very strange to be typing away on my wee blog again, it's been exactly 3 weeks since I've been gone from my little space on the internet. I think it's the longest I have ever taken a break from blogging in the whole 2 years I have been doing it.

It was my 2 year blog birthday on the 3rd November which I missed unfortunately but I am still so proud to have kept it up.
Where have I been? I just needed a break. from everything. I started a new job not too long ago and it's been super busy, I put so much pressure on myself to keep up with my blog as well as my full time busy job which meant never getting evenings or weekends to myself. I love blogging but there becomes a line where you need to just stop for a minute and breathe!

I've not been that well for about a good year now either, I'm back and forth getting blood tests for an underactive thyroid and also need tests on my heart murmur which has been giving me a huge amount of worry and I've started feeling extremely anxious due to this. One of the symptoms of my health issue is trembling hands, I can tell when it's going to happen and there is nothing I can do to stop it which is causing my anxiety as I know my hands will shake which is extremely embarrassing if it happens when shopping handing over money or typing your pin in, I feel I am being watched and acting suspicious.
However to end on a positive note, I bought myself a little add on to my desk to put some of my cute bits and pieces on it, I've not done a huge amount with it but it's something for me to rearrange and get it just right. I love it! I'm hoping it will give me more space and motivation to get back into the routine of blogging.
I have some fun baking ideas planned and getting ready for the festive season on Gill McLaughlin which i'm super excited for, I hope you are too!

Toffee Apple Recipe

Now that it's nearing to Halloween and Bonfire night what best to get me in the mood than making some home made Toffee Apples. This is my first time ever making these as it's something I've never thought of really and my husband looooves them.
I thought I would coat them in some sprinkles because why not?! We need to have them looking pretty enough to picture and eat nom nom nom

If you would like to make these too you will need....

4 apples *this recipe will be enough for 5/6 apples*
200g Caster Sugar
50ml Water
2 tbs Maple Syrup
Lollipop Sticks
Baking Paper
Red food colouring (optional)
Sprinkles (optional)

  1. Place your sugar and water into a stainless steel pan and put on to a medium heat *do not mix with a spoon at this stage as you will crystalise the sugar*
  2. Whilst you are waiting for your sugar to melt in the pan, wash your apples and dry well as this will take the wax coating off them and help your toffee sauce to stick and put your lollipop sticks into the bottom of the apple
  3. You can now add your Maple Syrup and stir with a stainless steel spoon and put onto a higher heat until it starts to bubble, you can also add red food colouring at this stage to make your sauce a brighter colour.
  4. If you don't have a thermometer, you can test if its read by dipping a spoon with sauce on it into a glass of cold water, if the sauce hardens when removing the spoon it's ready!
  5. Now swirl your apples into the toffee sauce letting the excess drip off and then dipping them into a bowl of your chosen sprinkles.
  6. Place them on to baking paper to set, do not put onto your worktops as they are very sticky and you don't want to ruin any of your kitchen worktops

Let me know in the comments below if you will be making these?

Battle of the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara's

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara has been a firm favourite of mine for around a year now and it's my go to mascara as I know it will just work for me without fail, when I knew my brother was getting married I really wanted to use my lash sensational but it's not waterproof so I went looking and hadn't realised they done it in waterproof formula so I knew I had to get it.
Upon looking in Boots for a little browse I just so happened to see they had lash sensational in another formula, luscious with oil blend. I knew I had to add this to my collection and try it out.
I decided I would do a battle of the Lash Sensational Mascara's - which formula wins me over?!
Lash Sensational, Original
As I said previously, this has been a firm fave for me for about a year now, the wand is a curved silicone wand and I don't even need to use eyelash curlers with this, it curls them and keeps that curl for a long time too. It can transfer on to my lids if i'm not careful to set my eyes properly and it's super easy to take off
Lash Sensational, waterproof
This is exactly the same as the non waterproof mascara except it's a lot harder to come off, which you would expect from a waterproof mascara I just felt there was too much tugging at my eyes *wrinkles stay away* I would definitely use this for events though just not everyday wear.
Lash Sensational, Luscious with Oil Blend
I was really surprised when I opened this mascara up as the wand was different, it's still a silicone wand but it's not curved, this is a tapered wand chunky at the bottom gradually getting slimmer to the top. I wasn't wowed when I used this, it seems to be a lot deeper black in colour than the other two which I really like but it felt too wet and clumped my eyelashes slightly, I had to go in with the original one to separate and give them more of a lift.

The winner for me is definitely the original, I love everything about it from the wand to the formula and it's so easy to get off with no tugging.

What is your favourite mascara? Let me know in the comments below.

Ghost Deep Night Perfume

Who doesn't love treating themselves to a new perfume? I am certainly no exception but it makes you feel that little bit less guilty when you get it for a bargain price.
I was having a little shop on FragranceDirect to get a new scent and one that isn't overly summery now that we are in Autumn. I didn't want to buy an expensive one as I will be receiving some come Christmas but just one to get me by for the next few months. I've always been a fan of Ghost perfumes so had a little browse and came across the Deep Night perfume.
At £12.99 for 30ml this is pretty darn good I think! It has a fruity vanilla scent with a musk base, I can wear this for both day time and evening as it's not too strong and overpowering, it's really nice and subtle which I quite like as it's versatile.

October Birchbox 2016

I love it when this time of the month comes, that knock on the door and there is the postman standing with my Birchbox! eeeep
October's Birchbox is astrological and based on your star sign so I got Birchbox Air as I'm a Gemini! This month's box is also an exciting one as it glows in the dark! yes, really!
Inside the box is just as good too, as always.

I received a Bodyism Body Brilliance food supplement which you can stir in to water or a smoothie which is full of antioxidants helping you to feel your best, I'm excited to try that out.
Next up is the Doux Me pure spring mist which you spray on your face before moisturising helping to soothe and hydrate your skin.
Rituals body cream was included which I can't wait to try as I've used a few items from this brand and loved them all.
A restore and repair oil by Number 4 was also included which transforms dull hair into shiny, sleek locks. I'm not a fan of hair oils but will still be giving this a go
A brand we all know and love Olehenriksen with their collagen booster serum used after cleansing to smooth those pesky fine lines.
Last but by no means least and my favourite out of everything is Lord & Berry Matte lipstick crayon in the shade Intimacy I looooove this shade and couldn't wait to try it on as you can see from the state of it in the picture haha - this is going to be a staple lip product for me this month.
What do you think of this months Birchbox, let me know in the comments below.

How To Keep That Glow in Fall

Now that Autumn is in full swing those summer days are gone, which I actually don't mind as I am more of an Autumn / Winter person, I love everything to do with the cold weather and cosy nights but one thing I do miss is having that glowing tan you have in the summer.
Let's be honest, when it's cold you just want to wrap up and be warm the last thing you want to do is standing around naked putting fake tan on not being able to put clothes on until it all dries etc etc.... I do sometimes go for a cheeky sunbed to keep me warm and tan at the same time (I know I know)!

One thing I have found which keeps a nice shimmering glow to my skin is Ted Baker's Body Shimmer Souffle I bought this to use for a wedding to give my skin a glow.
I've kept on using this and it's so moisturising and keeps my skin healthy with a golden shimmering glow. As you can tell it's a really thick formula which is great for this time of year I think as it has really helped my dry skin.
You can buy this in Boots at a cost of £10.00 for 300ml, I've already used this a few times and it's as though there hasn't been anything taken out of the pot, I know for sure this will last me a really long time and it's a great price point for how much you get.

Autumn Lips Nyx Copenhagen

I am sooo excited that it's now October, finally the weather is getting colder, candles and fire are on, cosy coats and scarves will be coming out soon and most importantly dark autumnal lips!
I never really wore dark lips until I started purchasing some the last couple of months in stead for Autumn / Winter, now that I've dyed my hair darker I feel they suit me better. I also prefer dark colours in a matte formula rather than glossy or cremesheen. The first place I go to look for lip products when trying new shades is Nyx - they have every shade imaginable and are also purse friendly so not too big a deal if you don't like the colour on you.

I picked up the shade Copenhagen from Nyx after doing many google searches on swatches, I will say a lot of swatches seem a lot more purple but on me this is very much a deep berry red with a slight hint of purple.
The application of this shade isn't too good, it's very patchy and takes a good bit of time to get it on even, definitely recommend pairing this with a lip liner otherwise you will spend a lot of time trying to pack this on to make it opaque. It is an amazing shade though and very autumnal!

Nyx Soft Matte Cream's cost just £5.50 and you can get them from your local boots store, I have a little collection of them going on which I can't wait to add to, check out which Nyx lip products I already have.
Let me know what your favourite Autumnal shade is in the comments below?

Vanilla Confetti Cupcakes

Sunday Treats

It's the usually Sunday night feeling, trying not to think about Monday morning, yawn! Although I must admit, I am getting rather excited at the dark mornings and nights and the fact it's starting to get colder in the evenings - getting those coats out soon!
I am willing for Autumn to make its way fully here so I popped on some fairy lights and lit a festive candle, Marshmallow Treats - read my post here to find out where I got this beaut from.
Now I can fully relax, watch some Netflix and munch through my chosen treats which is a Cadbury's milkshake, mini cookies and some after eight mints yummm.

What treats do you have on a Sunday night? Let me know in the comments below.

Bath & Body Works Candle Dupe

Upon walking into my local B&M store, in front of me were a variety of candles on a shelf and I recognised the packaging looking like Bath & Body works candles - I was instantly intrigued.
There were only 2 scents available in this packaging, Marshmallow Fireside and Sea Breeze (I think) I didn't get the other one as it was blue, I only allow white / neutral or pink candles into my home to match my décor (Christmas is an exception). I may be missing out on some beautiful scents this way but I just can't have anything out of place - anyone else like this?!

This candle smells verrry sweet and I wasn't overly sure on it but I bought it as I thought it looked rather Autumnal and would look nice in my bedroom. However, once this is burning it smells amazing, it's still sweet but not as sweet as when you first smell it. This is the sort of candle you want burning away in your kitchen on a dark wintery day uhhhh can't wait for the Autumn / Winter months to come.
This wee candle cost me £2.99 and is a 2 wick which will give it an even burn, it makes your whole house smell ahhhmazing, i hope it lasts me for a while as I have no idea where I can get these other than B&M and they didn't have many in stock

Have you tried any of these candles before? Let me know in the comments below.

September's Birchbox

Can you believe it's September already?! I had to double check that I was really blogging about the September edition of Birchbox.

I am pretty gutted that it's not Autumn as yet, I am soo ready for dark cosy nights with a hot chocolate and some fairy lights and candles in the background. I've heard next week is to be pretty warm, a part of me died inside - please can we have the leaves falling already?!
Anyway, onto the actual post... September's Birchbox! Let's just take a minute to appreciate the gorgeous design of this box, my favourite design yet and it's the first box I have kept as decoration in my bedroom, loooove it!

Inside is pretty darn exciting, as always. I received the ModelCo Highlighting Trio which is cream rather than powder, super excited to try that out.
Next up is the Amika Blow Out Spray which is a lightweight volumising, smoothing and texturizing spray and also strengthens and repairs damage.

Moving onto nails, this Nailtiques polish was included which is Keratin protein and calcium to help bond the layers of your nail together helping them to grow.
I love Nuxe so when I saw the Nuxe Prodigieux Shower Oil i knew it would be one of the first items for me to try in the shower.
Another that caught my eye, excuse the pun, is the Starskin Eye Catcher this mask infused with coconut juice and brightening licorice root extract sits on the under eye to brighten, smooth and reduce puffiness.
What did you think of this months box? Let me know in the comments below.

Make Up Haul at Boots

It's the same old story, you go into Boots for one item and come out with a mini haul, this always happens to me. I don't think there has ever been a time when I've gone into Boots and come out with exactly what I went in for, products seem to leap into my basket before I know it and then, well, you can't put them back can you? That would just be rude!!
I went in for another True Match as I'm currently running out, my everyday go to foundation at the moment. My eye spotted a 3 for 2 offer on L'Oreal so I just HAD to get another product because I will get another one for free, we can justify that right? I noticed they had True Match highlighters which I've never seen before so that was quickly in my basket, I also picked up a new lipstick from their Gold range which I had never seen before either.
Whilst I was walking through the aisles I thought I'd get my ultimate fave eyebrow pencil from Soap & Glory as I've also ran out of that and didn't they have an offer on too! Buy one get 2nd half price errrm yes please! I decided to pick up the 'Ultimatte ' eye palette which is all Matte shades and I would wear every single one in the palette... I shall put a post up on this palette.
I was satisfied with my little purchases and I was standing in the queue when I saw a miniature Hoola Bronzer which I've wanted for ages so thought I'd treat myself on top of everything else haha but it's miniature - you just have to have it!
Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments below.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Cupcakes

Now that the GBBO has started it has got me inspired to baking even more than usual, I've gone through my pictures and blog to see what I have already done as I'm keen to make cakes I've not made before.
I bought cute little mini cookies as little snacks for work and thought I could make choc chip cookie cupcakes, and here we have them, I think they look rather adorable.
I followed a hummingbird bakery vanilla cupcake recipe for these and added my own twist.

120g Plain Flour
140g Caster Sugar
1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
a pinch of salt
40g unsalted butter
120ml whole milk
1 egg
1 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
100g Choc Chips

Vanilla Frosting:
250g Icing Sugar
80g Unsalted Butter
25ml Whole Milk
Couple drops of Vanilla Extract

To Make:

1. Pre-heat oven to 170°C / Gas3
2. Put the Flour, Sugar, Baking Powder, Salt and Butter in a mixer and mix until you get a sandy consistency. Gradually pour in half of the milk and mix until incorporated
3. Whisk the egg, vanilla extract and the rest of the milk together and pour into the flour mixture until incorporated - then add in your chocolate chips and stir through.

4. Spoon the mixture into cupcake cases until 2 thirds full and bake for around 15 - 20 minutes

5. Leave the cupcakes to cool

6. To make the frosting, beat the butter until pale in a mixer, then add in the sugar until incorporated

7 . Add in the milk and beat until light in colour and fluffy

8. Pipe onto your cooled cupcakes and top with mini choc chip cookies.

Beauty | Top 5 Mac Lippies

Ever go through phases where you use your Mac lipsticks all day errrday and then other times you wont touch them for weeks on end? Well I'm going through that phase where I am reaching for them all day errrday!
I now have 9 Mac lipsticks in my wee collection and looking to add a lot more to it as I am currently obsessed with them at the moment, they have a lipstick in every finish and colour - you just can't go wrong.
I wittled it down to my top 5 Mac lipsticks which I have been wearing constantly lately, not all at the same time obvs, it isn't the 5 layer mac lipstick challenge ;)

First up is Crosswires which is a cremesheen finish and is a lovely coral pinky shade, very pigmented and lasts quite a while which is amazing considering it's a cremesheen finish.

Then we have Snob which is a satin finish in a bright pastel pink shade but very wearable.

On to my absolute favourite and the one which I wear the most Velvet Teddy the lipstick which made Mac famous due to Kylie Jenner wearing this, it's a matte finish and is a deep beige shade, goes with just about any make up look and you can wear it with any outfit, love it.

Back to a pink we have Crème Cup  which is another cremesheen finish in a lovely light pink which is blue toned. This can be worn over other lipsticks as it has just a light pigmentation to it
Lastly we have Brave another one which Kylie Jenner sent the world looking for, this is a satin finish and is still a beige shade like Velvet Teddy but is more on the pink side
I can't wait to pick up more shades, I have a list as long as my arm - my absolute dream would be to own every shade, just because.
Let me know in the comments below what your favourite Mac lippy is?

Lifestyle | Childhood Memories

I was walking around B&M bargains when these Ice Cream Chewits caught my eye, suddenly my childhood memories came flooding back, you knew it was a good day when your mum brought you home some Ice Cream Chewits - I mean could life of got any better?!

It got me thinking of everything from 'back in the day' I was born in '89 so grew up in the 90's /00's at school, who remembers...
Spending several hours chatting on MSN
Having a sleepover with your friends, bringing along your Furbies trying to get them to talk to each other - yeah, that never worked
Coming home to a 20p mixture - those were the days
Going to school with your Kookai bag
Wanting to have a new TY beanie every day
Playing snake on your Nokia 3310
Eating smiley faces and turkey drummers (I still do)
Reading Jacqueline Wilson books - Tracy Beaker anyone?
Buying 'Shout' thinking you had made it in adult life
There are so many amazing memories, what are your favourite childhood memories?
