Baking | Halloween Cupcakes

As you all know I love baking cupcakes so I thought I'd do some Halloween cakes with a surprising twist.

These are a vanilla base with black food colouring and orange flavoured & coloured buttercream icing on top, in the middle is a bloody surprise.... red icing with popping candy! Want to know how to make these? Keep on reading...

You will need:
150g Butter
170g Caster Sugar
170g Self-Raising Flour
3 medium eggs
1 tbs vanilla extract
1 tbs Black food colouring
Popping Candy

For the Buttercream

140g Butter
225g Icing Sugar
1tbs Orange Flavouring
1tbs Orange colouring

How to:

1) Pre-heat oven to 180c and line a muffin tray with black cupcake cases (this will make 12)
2) Mix together butter and sugar until all combined

3) Crack in eggs and add flour, fold in until all fully combined. Then add in your vanilla extract and black colouring, mix well.
4) Spoon the mixture evenly between the cases and bake for 10-15 mins
5)Now to start your buttercream. Mix icing sugar and butter together until fully combined, then add in your orange flavouring and colouring
6) once your cakes are fully cooled down, core the middle out of them and make a standard icing mixture with 100g icing sugar and some water, add in red food colouring and popping candy then pour into the core of the cupcakes
7) Insert buttercream icing into a piping bag with a circular nozzle and pipe onto the cupcakes, decorate with something suitable for Halloween.

Enjoy!!
