April Favourites

It's that time again to share my monthly favourites, April has been a good month for me, I qualified as a level 1 make up artist which is really exciting, I re-decorated my house which just feels so fresh and amazing now!

First up is the amazing Make Up Revolution Ultra Flawless palette which contains 32 shades, I have been using this palette almost everyday - you can create so many different looks with this - love it!

I use hand gel all the time I am obsessed with having clean hands, I've used many sanitisers and this Soap & Glory Hand Maid is my absolute favourite by far, it has the nicest scent ever and dries almost instantly.

After reading many reviews on the Maybelline Baby Skin and hearing it is similar to Porefessional I knew I had to buy it. I have been using this throughout April and have loved it - it glides on so smoothly and your skin does feel like baby skin!

Again, I have read so many reviews on the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks I just had to own one, these are amaaziiinng! Seriously, go and buy one! Review to come - watch this space.

Everyone loves a good Lush product, I have been using Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub constantly, it makes my lips so smooth and it tastes amazing - highly recommend Lush's lip scrubs.

You can see my review on the No7 Make Up Cleanser here. This is the perfect cleanser when you just need to give your brushes a quick brief clean. You still need to give your brushes a bath though, this isn't a deep clean for your brushes.

What are your favourites for this month? Have you ever used any of these products?

No7 Make Up Brush Cleanser

Hello Lovelies,
Now I have tried and tested a lot of make up brush cleaners and since I have been training to become a make up artist I have learnt that you should not be cleaning your brushes with baby shampoo or anything like that. It should specifically be make up
brush cleansers / shampoos.

I came across this No7 cleansers after seeing a lot of make up artists using it to clean between use. This is such a great product if you dont have time to give your brushes a bath. Note: it wont fully clean your brushes if they are thick with foundation!

The consistency is very water based (i was expecting it to come out a bit thicker) it has slight oilyness to it but not enough to make your hands all slippery Yukkk!

I picked this up in boots for £8 which I think is a bargain. I have used it quite a lot and still
got loads left - It's gonna last a while.

Have you used this product? Are there any other cleanser products you can recommend?

Sunday Funday: Raspberry & White Chocolate Cheesecake

Hello Lovelies,
I thought I would do something different to cupcakes and as we are coming into the better weather, I thought why not make a cheesecake! This is my hubbys fave cheesecake, he prefers a thicker biscuit base but the recipe I am showing you is a standard cheesecake base. If you like it thick like this too just add more digestives.

200g Digestive biscuits
50g butter
400g Philadelphia
150g Caster Sugar
200g White Chocolate
200ml Double Cream
150g Raspberries (you can use fresh or frozen)
Fresh raspberries for decoration

1) Crush digestives into fine crumbs. Melt butter in a pan and then add the digestives, stir until fully combined

2) Press digestives into a 20cm tin with collapsible base and pop into the freezer for 10 minutes to set.

3) Melt chocolate and leave to cool for 5 mins

4) Beat the Philly and sugar together until smooth

5) whisk double cream until thick then fold into the Philly mixture along with the melted chocolate and raspberries.

6) Pour filling into the prepared base and set in the fridge for 3+ hours or until set.

7) When ready to eat, decorate with raspberries and dust with icing sugar

What do you think of this cheesecake? Will you try this out?

Have Cellulite? Use Frank!

Hello Lovelies

I had heard nothing but amazing reviews about Frank scrub so thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and try it out for myself.

OMG, it smells amazing, but I love the smell of coffee. If you are not a fan of the smell of coffee you will not like this as it is pretty strong. It also has a hint of orange through it which you can really smell and it's just amazing!

This product also works too, it doesn't just smell good, it does what it says it will do on the packet. I have used this around 8 times now on my legs (and but!) only and still have a lot left. I suffer with cellulite on the back of my legs (and but!). After using this it completely hydrates the skin and feels like you have just moisturised, it also tightens the skin and I have noticed a vast improvement in my cellulite. Don't get me wrong, it's not a miracle worker and wont just completely disappear but it has made a massive difference for me.

You can buy it at:

Let me know if you have used any coffee scrubs? did it work for you?

Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream

Hello Lovelies,
I've been using 'Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream' for around 2 months now so thought I have used it enough to give you my review on this product.
First off, the packaging is super cute with a plastic cork type effect of lid and glass jar.
The cream itself is fairly thick and creamy and glides on really nicely under the eyes, you can definitely feel how hydrating and refreshing it is. I use this every morning and evening, I love it in the morning as it makes me feel more awake when I put it on.
This cream claims to 'fade dark circles and helps smooth fine lines for brighter, younger looking eyes'. It has definitely made my eye area a bit more glowing and it feels hydrated, although I haven't seen any improvement at all on my dark circles (I have also been making sure I drink plenty water and get enough sleep. sometimes.).
Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream will set you back £25.50, so not cheap. Is it worth it? In my eyes probably not as sadly it's not done what it's claimed to do. It may well have worked for others though.

Let me know of any recommendations for eye creams to reduce dark circles in the comments below.

Sunday Funday: Jammie Dodger Cupcakes

Hello Lovelies,
First off, apologies for the lack of blogging lately as I have been in a Make Up course all last week which was exhausting so never got a chance to do any blogging! I am back now with these delicious Jammie Dodger Cupcakes.
Read on to find out how I made these:

200g Plain Flour
240g Caster Sugar
2tsp Baking Powder
80g Butter (unsalted)
2 medium eggs
2tsp Vanilla Extract
100ml of milk (I used semi-skimmed)

Butter Icing:
175g butter (unsalted)
350g icing sugar
1tsp Vanilla Extract
1 packet of Jammie Dodgers for decoration

1) Preheat your oven to 180 or gas mark 4 and line a muffin tray with cupcake cases

2) Cream your butter and caster sugar together until it is all smooth then add in your vanilla extract and eggs

3) Sift your flour and baking powder and add some of this to your butter/sugar mixture and then some milk and keep adding little bits at a time and mixing until it's all included.
*If you find your mixture is too runny add some flour and if it's too thick add a bit more milk*

4) pour the mixture into the cases about 3/4 full and bake for 15 mins turning half way through.

5) While your cupcakes are baking you can move on to making the icing. Cream together the butter and icing sugar, then add in your vanilla extract. Add to piping bag and pipe onto your cupcakes once they have cooled down. You can top them off with a whole Jammie Dodger or just half of one to the side.

Let me know what you think of these cuppies and any ideas for future baking posts?

April Beauty Wishlist

Hello Lovelies,
I had a little think about what make up products I would like and the list came out as long as my arm so had to shorten it down to just 6 (which was a huge struggle). You would be reading it al day with what I want haha.

Lorac Pro Palette
I have seen this palette crop up more and more and I just want to get my hands on one!

Nars Creamy Concealer
This gets raving reviews, I really need to purchase this I have just been putting it off ( too tight to part with my pennies haha)

Nyx Butter Gloss
If anyone knows where I can buy these in the UK please do let me know?! I'm not sure anywhere in the UK stock them so if you know of a good website I would love to know

Anastasia Contour Palette
Because I am coming into Make Up Artistry I think this would be a great piece to have in my kit. It's good enough for Kim K after all.

Sigma Brushes
Again, coming into Make Up Artistry, Sigma do great brush kits in a compact pack / folder style. I think I would benefit a lot from these when I come to freelance.

Let me know what you think of any of the above products or if you have any alternate recommendations?
