Save or Splurge: Make Up Brush Shampoo

Hello Lovelies,
I always used to use expensive shampoo for my make up brushes as I wanted to ensure I was keeping them as clean as possible and remain in high quality.
Little did I know you could use Baby Shampoo! I started to read more and more blog posts and videos of how everyone cleans their brushes and baby shampoo kept cropping up.
I decided I would try this out as it is not expensive at all and I am now a complete convert! My brushes smell amazing after using baby shampoo and it does the exact same job as a more expensive shampoo. My brushes were still in really good condition too so I no longer have to worry about that!

My bareMinerals shampoo costs £10.00 for a 120ml bottle and my 100ml Baby Shampoo costs £1.10. A massive saving of £8.90!

What do you use to wash your brushes? I am always looking for new ideas and products, let me know in the comments below.

Love Gill x

  1. I always just use whichever shampoo I've got in the shower at the time (unless it's a really nice one and in that case I'll use my boyfriends haha!) but I've found all types of shampoo work pretty well!

    1. Haha - I had never known that you could use an ordinary shampoo I thought it had to be an actual shampoo made for the brushes lol! x

  2. I love using baby shampoo to wash my brushes! It always leaves them squeaky clean and smelling amazing!!! Glad you've been converted! You can use that money you save on more expensive cleansers and pick yourself up a few treats ;) x

    1. I know! I can treat myself to a new lipstick or nail varnish x

  3. I've always used the shampoo that I save for when I've just bleached my hair so it's a bit more caring, or baby shampoo. I've never seen the need for brush shampoo!

  6. I use the MAC brush cleaner but if I don't have any of that I just use an anti-bacterial hand wash :)
