Make Up Haul at Boots

Tuesday, 30 August 2016

It's the same old story, you go into Boots for one item and come out with a mini haul, this always happens to me. I don't think there has ever been a time when I've gone into Boots and come out with exactly what I went in for, products seem to leap into my basket before I know it and then, well, you can't put them back can you? That would just be rude!!

I went in for another True Match as I'm currently running out, my everyday go to foundation at the moment. My eye spotted a 3 for 2 offer on L'Oreal so I just HAD to get another product because I will get another one for free, we can justify that right? I noticed they had True Match highlighters which I've never seen before so that was quickly in my basket, I also picked up a new lipstick from their Gold range which I had never seen before either.

Whilst I was walking through the aisles I thought I'd get my ultimate fave eyebrow pencil from Soap & Glory as I've also ran out of that and didn't they have an offer on too! Buy one get 2nd half price errrm yes please! I decided to pick up the 'Ultimatte ' eye palette which is all Matte shades and I would wear every single one in the palette... I shall put a post up on this palette.

I was satisfied with my little purchases and I was standing in the queue when I saw a miniature Hoola Bronzer which I've wanted for ages so thought I'd treat myself on top of everything else haha but it's miniature - you just have to have it!

Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments below.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Cupcakes

Monday, 29 August 2016

Now that the GBBO has started it has got me inspired to baking even more than usual, I've gone through my pictures and blog to see what I have already done as I'm keen to make cakes I've not made before.

I bought cute little mini cookies as little snacks for work and thought I could make choc chip cookie cupcakes, and here we have them, I think they look rather adorable.

I followed a hummingbird bakery vanilla cupcake recipe for these and added my own twist.

Ingredients:

120g Plain Flour
140g Caster Sugar
1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
a pinch of salt
40g unsalted butter
120ml whole milk
1 egg
1 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
100g Choc Chips

Vanilla Frosting:
250g Icing Sugar
80g Unsalted Butter
25ml Whole Milk
Couple drops of Vanilla Extract

To Make:

1. Pre-heat oven to 170°C / Gas3
2. Put the Flour, Sugar, Baking Powder, Salt and Butter in a mixer and mix until you get a sandy consistency. Gradually pour in half of the milk and mix until incorporated
3. Whisk the egg, vanilla extract and the rest of the milk together and pour into the flour mixture until incorporated - then add in your chocolate chips and stir through.

4. Spoon the mixture into cupcake cases until 2 thirds full and bake for around 15 - 20 minutes

5. Leave the cupcakes to cool

6. To make the frosting, beat the butter until pale in a mixer, then add in the sugar until incorporated

7 . Add in the milk and beat until light in colour and fluffy

8. Pipe onto your cooled cupcakes and top with mini choc chip cookies.

Beauty | Top 5 Mac Lippies

Wednesday, 24 August 2016

Ever go through phases where you use your Mac lipsticks all day errrday and then other times you wont touch them for weeks on end? Well I'm going through that phase where I am reaching for them all day errrday!

I now have 9 Mac lipsticks in my wee collection and looking to add a lot more to it as I am currently obsessed with them at the moment, they have a lipstick in every finish and colour - you just can't go wrong.

I wittled it down to my top 5 Mac lipsticks which I have been wearing constantly lately, not all at the same time obvs, it isn't the 5 layer mac lipstick challenge ;)

First up is Crosswires which is a cremesheen finish and is a lovely coral pinky shade, very pigmented and lasts quite a while which is amazing considering it's a cremesheen finish.

Then we have Snob which is a satin finish in a bright pastel pink shade but very wearable.

On to my absolute favourite and the one which I wear the most Velvet Teddy the lipstick which made Mac famous due to Kylie Jenner wearing this, it's a matte finish and is a deep beige shade, goes with just about any make up look and you can wear it with any outfit, love it.

Back to a pink we have Crème Cup  which is another cremesheen finish in a lovely light pink which is blue toned. This can be worn over other lipsticks as it has just a light pigmentation to it

Lastly we have Brave another one which Kylie Jenner sent the world looking for, this is a satin finish and is still a beige shade like Velvet Teddy but is more on the pink side

I can't wait to pick up more shades, I have a list as long as my arm - my absolute dream would be to own every shade, just because.

Let me know in the comments below what your favourite Mac lippy is?

Lifestyle | Childhood Memories

Monday, 22 August 2016

I was walking around B&M bargains when these Ice Cream Chewits caught my eye, suddenly my childhood memories came flooding back, you knew it was a good day when your mum brought you home some Ice Cream Chewits - I mean could life of got any better?!

It got me thinking of everything from 'back in the day' I was born in '89 so grew up in the 90's /00's at school, who remembers...

Spending several hours chatting on MSN

Having a sleepover with your friends, bringing along your Furbies trying to get them to talk to each other - yeah, that never worked

Coming home to a 20p mixture - those were the days

Going to school with your Kookai bag

Wanting to have a new TY beanie every day

Playing snake on your Nokia 3310

Eating smiley faces and turkey drummers (I still do)

Reading Jacqueline Wilson books - Tracy Beaker anyone?

Buying 'Shout' thinking you had made it in adult life

There are so many amazing memories, what are your favourite childhood memories?

Beauty | Kiko Haul

Tuesday, 16 August 2016

When I was on holiday in Fuengirola, Spain I done a little tour around the shops that were there and when I noticed Kiko in the distance I knew I had to go there. I've only ever had Kiko products in beauty subscription boxes and haven't actually been to a store so was excited to go in as I love all the products I have received so far.

As you can see I treated myself to quite a few things but am still gutted I didn't pick up more, the choice was too much so I put in the things I knew I loved.

Above are the 2 eyeshadows I picked up which are baked duo shades, the shade to the left which is a pink pearl shade with a coral tinge to it is in the shade '01 pearly pink - satin coral' and on the right is a gold taupe shimmer in the shade '20 pearly gold - pearly sand'. The packaging has a little magnetic closure which gives it a bit more of a luxurious feel. The price of each shadow is £8.90 which I feel is very reasonable.

Next up is blushers, the one on the left of my hand is a cream blush which can also be used as a highlighter as if you buff it out it leaves a shimmer on the skin with very little shade underneath or you can apply heavier without as much buffing and it works as a blush, this is in the shade '01' and costs £4.90. On the right of my hand is a powder blush in the shade '02 - provocative pink' which is a duo shade of a brighter pink and a light pinky coral shade, this costs £12.90

And last but by no means least, lip products - my fav! The top shade is a Matte lipstick in the Velvet Passion range and is in the shade '315 Mauve' coming in at £10.90. Second shade down is from their Smart Lipstick range which is a satin formula in the shade '901 Natural Beige' costing just £3.90! Third and Fourth shade down are their pencil lip glosses in the shades '06 Pink Glitter' and '00 multicolour ice' which cost £3.90 each. The last swatch is a lip liner from the creamy colour range in the shade '315 intense mauve' costing £5.90.

I also bought a mascara, Luxurious Lashes which came in at £7.20.
My Kiko haul came to a total of around €66 which is roughly £57, although if you were buying this in the UK it would come to £71.30 so I saved money by getting these goodies abroad.

Let me know if you have tried Kiko in the comments below?

Beauty | August Birchbox

Sunday, 14 August 2016

One of my favourite times of the month is receiving Birchbox's beauty box or in this months case a beauty bag!

I arrived back from holiday after being in Fuengirola for a week to the cute little Birchbox bag filled with goodies, the bag would have been perfect for taking away with me but oh well, next time I can take it.
Inside my beauty bag was:
Anatomical Body Scrub
Philip Kingsley Dry Shampoo
Merci Handy Hand Gel
Balance Me Congested Skin Serum
Marcelle Eyeliner
Sample perfume, English Laundry

I'm excited to try the body scrub as I will be needing this to remove some of the dead skin with all the sunbathing I've been doing. The Skin Serum will also come in handy with the build up of all the sun screen I've been using on my face.

Have you used any of these products? Let me know in the comments below.

Baking | White Chocolate Toblerone Cheesecake

Monday, 1 August 2016

So it was one of the girls birthday in work last week and as I've been bringing in cakes lately I offered to make something as a surprise for her birthday, I was told her favourite chocolate is white chocolate, white toblerone in particular. I decided I would do a white chocolate cheesecake as these always go down a treat and something a little bit different to a cake.

Let's just say it didn't even last a day! It tasted amazing, if I don't say so myself hehe. If you would like to make this cheesecake just keep reading....

You Will Need:

300g Digestive Biscuits
60g butter
400g Philadelphia (full fat)
150g caster sugar
200g White Chocolate - I used Milkybar
200ml Double Cream
3 White Chocolate Toblerone's for decoration

How To:

1) Crush digestives into fine crumbs, melt butter in pan and add digestives in until all combined.

2) place into a greased collapsible tin and pop into the freezer for 10 mins to set

3) Melt white chocolate, milkybar and leave to cool for 5 mins

4) beat the philly and sugar together until all combined and smooth

5) mix in the cooled white chocolate

6) whisk double cream until thick and then fold into your philly and sugar mixture, be careful not to mix it in though, essential that you fold it in.

7) Spread on top of your digestive base and pop into the fridge for around 4 hours or overnight

8) once the cheesecake has set, decorate with your white toblerone as desired.

Enjoy!
