I've just had my hair cut in to a bob and no I have not shown any pictures as yet but rest assured they will be coming very soon. I dyed my hair after getting it cut so it would be slightly lighter and needed a purple shampoo so hopped over to Boots and well I just couldn't pick up a shampoo could I ?!

To be honest I also thought i hadn't done a Boots haul in a while so why not take advantage of the offers in Boots and get some new products I've not tried before and haul it for my blog, I can always convince myself as to why I need to buy beauty products.

First up, what I actually went in for was the John Frieda Colour Renew Shampoo which is a purple shampoo to help tone any brassy tones in blonde hair. It was 3 for 2 on JF so ya know I just had to take them up on that offer and I picked up the John Frieda Frizz Ease Hair Mask and the Frizz Ease 3 Day Straight which btw I am loving at the moment.

Next up is make up, I've heard quite a lot of fuss about the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation I am a huge fan of the 123 correct foundation I think it's called? I seen raving reviews about this one so thought I'd give it a go along with the Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer and I am loving the results so far, an in depth post will be coming on that in a couple weeks.

I really wanted to replace my Nyx blush in soft spoken which was all used up but instead of buying it again i decided to get the shade 'Hamptons' so will see how i get on with that. To go along with a blush we need a bit of a bronze going on so I picked up the Rimmel Natural Bronzer now that I've got it home it does look a bit orange which I'm kinda sad about but hopefully I can make it work. Sticking with Rimmel is the Stay Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade 'Blush' I had to search for this in the shop, i swatched the tester on my hand and walked around for a bit and fell in love with it, I skipped back excitedly to find they didn't have any left so i had to sneakily go into the storage drawers below the products and there was 1 left in there!

Last but by no means least, probably my favourite product ever is the Benefit Roller Lash I used this years ago when it first came out and loved it but for some reason never repurchased it. I have no idea how I went this long without it and am so glad to have it back in my life, I just picked up the travel size so will go back for the full size soon.

Let me know in the comments below what I should pick up next and try out ?

There is no denying that I looove a dry shampoo and probably verging on being a dry shampoo hoarder. I'm also guilty of being a bit of a snob when it comes to choosing my dry shampoo, is that even a thing?! Just about everyone I know uses dry shampoo, even my husband, so I thought I would share my favourites with you all in case it helps anyone out.

First up is trusty ol' Batiste, I mean, you just can't go wrong with Batiste there are a few scents I'm not overly fussed on but that's just personal preference. I love the 'Bare' scent as it's just fresh and doesn't leave any scent behind really, this is my go to dry shampoo throughout the week on work days.

Next up is Lee Stafford's Coco Loco Dry Shampoo I'm a huge fan of the regular shampoo and conditioner in this range which I've used for a while now so when I seen he had released a dry shampoo in this range I just had to pick it up. This is quite simply holiday in a bottle, if you want a sweet coconut scent that will linger, this is for you. It doesn't leave any white patches and brushes out really well.

I managed to pick up Toni & Guy's Perfect Tease dry shampoo in Poundland for around £2.00 I believe which I thought was so good and have used this for a few weeks now, it has made the cut to my top 5 purely because it has such a luxurious scent and feels luxurious in my hair, it feels like i've just come out the hairdressers when i use this. I can also style my hair a lot easier when I use this.

Batiste is in my Top 5 twice and don't they deserve it, this is the Heavenly Volume one which I use on around day 3 or 4 as my hair can tend to get a bit flat so this just gives it the right amount volume, i wouldn't say it gives a lot which I quite like as I have thick hair so don't need a huge amount. If you have fine flat hair I would maybe look for a different volumising dry shampoo.

Last but by no means least is Soap & Glory's Rushower dry shampoo, the scent! omg it's their classic scent and just smells oh so good. It lasts in my hair too so I get a whiff of it throughout the day, it doesn't make my hair feel as clean as the others but it definitely helps, I mainly use this alongside another dry shampoo and this one just keeps my hair smelling super nice.

What is your favourite dry shampoo? I'd love to know as am keen to try out even more!

I don't know about you but sometimes it's just great to have a cosy weekend doing nothing, catching up on all the housework and watching too much tv, who's with me?!

This weekend has gone way too fast even when I've not done anything, I have been super productive though and so lazy too, Saturday was filled with going on various dog walks, an afternoon nap and then a chinese, movies and snacks at night. Today I was up really early, tidied the house done my hair and make up and out the door at 08.30 for breakfast with my husband, it was deeelish we done the usual Sunday food shop with some candles and reed diffuser's thrown in which is becoming too much of a habit but i love it so much .

I then got home and organised all my cupboards as i can not stand mess and clutter, done a few blog photos and even done the gym this afternoon which i feel so much better about now! I'm having the yummiest Sunday dinner, chicken pie with mashed potato and just look what I have for dessert *inserts love emoji*

I'm going to have an early night watching some tv series in bed with a nice cup of tea and some biscuits for good measure.

Let me know in the comments below what you got up to this weekend?

There is nothing I love more than make up trends in Autumn, the burnt orange eyeshadows to berry red lips hello Autumn. I thought I'd share my favourite Autumn lips for this season and maybe give you some inspo to change up your make up for the A/W this year.

First up is Maybelline's Divine Wine I tend to wear this at weekends or if i'm out at night as opposed to a work day as it's quite bold and out there considering i wear a lot of nudes. This has a really creamy texture which is perfect for the colder months when we get oh so annoying dry lips!

Probably my most worn shade is Mac - Whirl  this is a bit of a classic, I can wear this from day to night and absolutely love it, I team this with the lip liner to make sure it stays put for a lot longer.

Revlon's Berry Couture is for the pink lipstick lovers as it's a subtle pinky berry lip which isn't too bold and can be worn throughout day and night, again this is a very smooth creamy texture which doesn't cling to dry patches on the lips.

Nyx Copenhagen is up there with one of my all time faves, it's a matte berry red which just looks amazing, it takes a bit of time applying it to make sure it doesn't go all over my face lol and can go a bit patchy if a lip liner isn't used. Once this is on the lips though it's very hard to budge which makes it so good for wearing on a night out.

Next up is a gloss which is super pigmented and feels amazing on the lips and Nyx have smashed it again with Toasted Marshmallow I mean even the name just screams Autumn! I absolutely love this, it's so easy to just chuck on but looks like you've spent time putting effort into your make up.

What are your favourite Autumn Lipsticks? Let me know in the comments below

It has been way too long since I've been in the kitchen and baked up some tasty treats, I couldn't really be bothered to do something too fancy so I thought I'd bake myself into it easily haha, i'm so bad at jokes! Anyway, how cute are these Lemon Drizzle Cupcakes?

It's probably one of the easiest cupcakes to make and super tasty too... just keep reading to find out for yourself:

You will need

250g unsalted butter, softened
400g caster sugar
3 eggs
250g self-raising flour
3 lemons - zest & juice

To Make

1. Preheat your oven to 160c / 140c fan / gas mark 3. Line a muffin tin with 12 muffin cases (i used cupcake cases and had too much mixture left)

2.  Put your softened butter into a mixer and mix on high speed for a good 4 mins until light and fluffy, now add in half of your sugar and mix again until combined

3. Mix in your flour, eggs, zest of 2 lemons and 1 lemon juice, don't over mix just until all combined.

4. spoon into your muffin cases evenly and bake for 20 mins, whilst waiting mix your remaining caster sugar with the juice of your other 2 lemons

5. Once out the oven pierce some holes in them with a skewer or fork and drizzle over your sugar / lemon mixture and leave to cool

6. This is optional but i mixed some icing sugar with water to a thick paste and put this into a piping bag and piped over the top of my cupcakes and decorated it with a little jelly lemon sweet.

What do you think of these lemon drizzle cupcakes? will you be making them?

Am I seeing things? No you are not, there is a fashion post on 'Gill McLaughlin' Yes, I know I can hardly believe it myself. If you are new around here, Hey, Welcome! I write about Beauty and Lifestyle with a dash of Baking, not fashion! Why? well because in all honesty I would not do outfit posts, I have zero body confidence.

Today I am making an exception because I mean just look at that beautiful tan suede biker jacket which screams AUTUMN

I seen this in New Look about a month ago and have legit thought about it ever since that I knew I just had to bite the bullet and pick it up, so I did. I could not be happier, I have been wearing this with cute tan ankle boots and autumnal blouses teamed with my tan MK bag. I am so ready for you Autumn, come at me!!

For £39.99 I think it's quite the bargain in comparison to River Island and Topshop where they are more than double the price. They also come in sooo many other shades, I really want the Grey, Wine, Khaki and Blush one too, maybe a bit excessive but I know I will wear this all the time I think I need a back up or two.

What do you think of this jacket? Yay or Nay? Should I do more fashion posts? Let me know in the comments below x

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the all round prettiness of these brushes?! I mean... if these aren't Instagram worthy I don't know what is. Speaking of Instagram, have you checked mine out? Instagram.com/mrsgmcx no shame! It's getting harder and harder to maintain and gain new followers thanks to the Instagram Algorithm, so let's all follow, like and interact with each other :)

Anyway, on to these beauts which I found on Amazon, I was searching for a birthday candle for my friend and these popped up as an advert which clearly worked as I bought them straight away, at £13.00 I couldn't resist. The 10 piece synthetic brushes come with an adorable make up brush case in the shape of a diamond which is super reflective.

I've used the flat angled brush for applying foundation and I wasn't overly keen on it, my foundation was harder to blend and took a lot longer to do so as opposed to a natural hair brush. However, I've used the contour and blush brushes with powder products and really enjoyed using them, they blended out beautifully and were so easy to use. I've only used the eye brushes for basic bronzed eye looks and again these were really nice too. I will need to put them to the test for smokey glittery eye looks and see how they perform.

Overall they are pretty good for the price and make really nice props for Instagram pictures, I probably wouldn't use them on a daily basis but as a back up they do the job.

Let me know in the comments below what your favourite make up brushes are?
